The RadioMaster T8 Lite V2 is a compact 8-channel transmitter that brings professional-feeling gimbals to an affordable, screenless design. Featuring a CC2500 RF chip that supports FrSky D8 and D16 (V1) protocols, it is the perfect "first radio" for simulator practice or for controlling small indoor drones. With its built-in 1000mAh battery, USB-C charging, and support for PC simulators, it offers high value without the complexity of OpenTX/EdgeTX.

Product Description

The RadioMaster T8 Lite (and its updated V2 version) is a budget-friendly, gamepad-style transmitter designed for pilots who want a simple, no-frills radio. It is particularly popular for simulator use and micro "whoops" because it is compact, lightweight, and incredibly easy to bind.

  • Simple, No-Screen Design: The T8 Lite skips the complicated LCD screens and firmware menus of high-end radios. Instead, it uses a simplified independent development system. You simply use stick combinations and the power button to bind and change protocols.

  • Simulator Ready: One of the best uses for the T8 Lite is as a dedicated simulator controller. The USB-C port allows you to plug it directly into your PC, where it is recognized as a standard joystick for FPV simulators like Liftoff, Velocidrone, or Tryp FPV.

  • Gamepad Ergonomics: Designed for "thumbers" and "pinchers" alike, the radio is small and lightweight (only 218g). It features fold-out finger rests on the back to help you maintain a secure grip during intense flight sessions.

  • Precision Potentiometer Gimbals: While not Hall Effect, the gimbals are high-precision quad-bearing potentiometer sensors. They provide a smooth and consistent feel that is much better than the gimbals found on toy-grade "RTF" controllers.

  • Integrated Battery & Charging: The radio comes with a built-in 3.7V 1000mAh Lithium battery. You can charge it via the top-mounted USB-C port, and the 5-LED strip on the front gives you a clear indication of your remaining battery life (each LED represents 20% charge).

  • Protocol Support: The built-in CC2500 chip is compatible with FrSky D8 and FrSky D16 V1 (FCC/LBT). This makes it compatible with almost every major micro-whoop and beginner drone on the market that uses FrSky-compatible receivers.

Technical Specifications:

  • Channels: Up to 8 Channels

  • Protocol: FrSky D8 / D16 V1

  • RF Module: CC2500

The Pilot's Reality Check:

  • No Trims: Unlike standard radios, the T8 Lite does not have physical trim buttons. This means it is not suitable for fixed-wing planes that require manual trimming. It is designed almost exclusively for multirotor drones where trimming is handled by the flight controller (Betaflight).

  • "Not" for ELRS: This radio does not support the modern ExpressLRS protocol and cannot be upgraded with an external module. If you plan to fly modern long-range or high-performance quads, you may outgrow this radio quickly.

🤔 Frequently Asked Questions
  • What protocols does it support?

The T8 Lite uses a CC2500 single-chip RF module. It primarily supports the FrSky D8 protocol. The V2 version adds limited support for FrSky D16 (V1 ACCST). This makes it compatible with most small "Whoop" drones and many FrSky-compatible receivers, but it cannot bind to modern ELRS or Ghost receivers.

  • Can I use it with a flight simulator?

Yes. This is one of the best uses for the T8 Lite. It features a USB-C port that allows it to be recognized as a joystick by your PC or Mac. You can practice in simulators like Liftoff or VelociDrone using the same gimbals you fly with in real life, with no extra adapters needed.

  • Does it have an LCD screen?

No. To keep the cost low and the size small, there is no screen. Settings like channel reversing or binding are handled through physical button combinations and audible beeps. This means you cannot perform complex mixing or set up multiple model profiles like you would on a screen-equipped radio.

  • How do I know when the battery is low?

The radio has five status LEDs on the front. Each LED represents roughly 20% of the battery life. When the battery is low, all five LEDs will flash simultaneously, and the radio will beep to warn you.

  • Is it good for planes (fixed-wing)?

Not ideally. Because the T8 Lite lacks physical trim switches, it is difficult to adjust the flight surfaces of a plane mid-air. It is much better suited for multirotors (quadcopters), where the flight controller handles the leveling and stabilization automatically.
