The GEPRC Tern-LR40 HD O3 is a 4-inch "Deadcat" style long-range drone designed for the sub-249g category. It strikes a unique balance between the portability of a micro and the endurance of a larger cruiser, making it an excellent "artistic" tool for scenic mountain surfing or quiet suburban exploration.
Interference-Free GPS: Most small quads bury the GPS in the tail. The Tern-LR40 uses an elevated, top-mounted pedestal for the GEP-M10 Nano. This places the sensor away from the "noise" of the VTX and ESC, resulting in a more reliable Return-to-Home (RTH) function.
Deadcat Frame Geometry: The front arms are swept wider and back, moving the propellers out of the camera's field of view. This is essential for the wide 155° lens of the DJI O3, ensuring your cinematic 4K footage is clean and unobstructed.
Aviation-Grade Construction: The frame combines 3.5mm carbon fiber arms with 7075 aluminum camera side plates. This provides a rigid, vibration-damped cage for the O3 camera, reducing high-frequency "jello" in your video.
Next-Gen G4 Processing: Powered by the TAKER G4 45A AIO, it uses an STM32G4 MCU which offers higher computing redundancy than standard F4 or F7 chips, allowing for ultra-smooth flight even with complex GPS-assisted modes.
Long Endurance Tuning: The SPEEDX2 1404 3000KV motors are specifically tuned for 4S efficiency. When paired with a 18650 Li-ion pack, the drone "sips" power, allowing you to cover significant distance on a single charge.

Pilot's Reality Check:
Sub-249g Compliance: To stay under the 249g legal limit (avoiding registration in many regions), you must use a battery around 650mAh–850mAh. Moving to a 3000mAh Li-ion pack for max endurance will push you over 250g.
Wind Resistance: Because it is so light (the "floaty" feel), it is more susceptible to buffeting in high-altitude mountain winds compared to the heavier MOZ7 or Helion 10.
XT30 Limitation: The XT30 plug is standard for this class, but ensure your batteries have the matching connector. Many larger 4S Li-ion packs come with XT60 by default and will require an adapter or re-soldering.
Flyer's POV: Flying the Tern-LR40 feels like being a "silent observer." It’s much quieter than a 5-inch drone, making it less intrusive when flying over scenic areas. It doesn't have the "snap" of a freestyle quad, but it has incredible "glide." You can set your throttle to 30%, sit back, and enjoy the scenery for 20 minutes straight. The O3 video is the perfect partner for this frame; you get professional-grade stabilized footage without the need for a heavy external GoPro.
