The Walksnail Avatar HD Moonlight Kit is Caddx’s direct answer to the DJI O3 Air Unit. It is the first digital FPV system in the Walksnail ecosystem to offer true 4K/60fps recording combined with a high-performance Starlight sensor, making it the absolute best choice for pilots who fly at dawn, dusk, or in pitch-black environments.
True 4K Cinematic Recording: Unlike previous Walksnail units that topped out at 1080p, the Moonlight records in 4K at 60fps with a high bitrate of 150Mbps. It uses H.264 encoding to preserve detail for post-production.
Starlight Sensor (ISO 25600): The 1/1.8-inch sensor is massive for an FPV camera. Its low-light performance is significantly better than the DJI O3, making it the king of "bando" flying and night missions where other cameras would show total blackness.
Dual Stabilization Options: It features Built-in EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) for a stabilized live feed and also records Gyro data for use with Gyroflow, giving you professional-level smoothness in your final edits.
Modular "Double Stack" Design: The VTX consists of two boards: the transmission board and the recording board. It supports both 20x20mm and 25x25mm mounting patterns, though the total height is thicker than standard VTXs.
Manual Camera Control: For the first time, Walksnail allows for manual adjustment of ISO and Shutter Speed, as well as a switchable 4:3/16:9 aspect ratio. It even includes an ND8 filter in the box for bright daytime flying.

Pilot's Reality Check:
Thermal Management: This unit generates significant heat when recording 4K. It is essential to have good airflow. If you leave it sitting on the bench for too long without the motors spinning, it will likely overheat and thermal-throttle.
Physical Size: Because of the dual-board recording setup, it is taller than the Avatar V2 VTX. Ensure your frame has at least 15.5mm of vertical clearance in the stack area.
Signal Loss Recording: One notable drawback compared to DJI is that if you lose the radio/video link entirely, the onboard recording may stop. (Current firmware updates are addressing this, but it’s a point of caution).
Flyer's POV: Flying the Moonlight Kit at sunset is a surreal experience. While your eyes see a dark landscape, the goggles show a vibrant, detailed world. The 160° FOV is immersive, and the 4K recording is sharp enough to replace a GoPro for most hobbyist uses. If you are already in the Walksnail/Fat Shark Dominator ecosystem, this is the single best upgrade you can buy for your freestyle or cinematic rig.
