The Walksnail Avatar HD Nano Kit brings high-definition digital FPV to the smallest of drones. Featuring a 14x14mm Nano camera and a lightweight single-board VTX, it delivers 1080p/60fps video with an industry-leading average latency of just 22ms. With built-in 8GB or 32GB storage and "Canvas Mode" for full Betaflight OSD support, it is the premier choice for weight-sensitive racing and freestyle builds.

Product Description

The Walksnail Avatar HD VTX Nano Kit is the ultra-compact digital solution from Caddx/Walksnail, designed to compete directly with the DJI and Fat Shark digital ecosystems. It is especially popular for "Whoops" and micro drones due to its incredibly low weight and single-board VTX design.

  • Industry-Leading Latency: The Avatar system is built for speed. In "Racing Mode," it achieves a glass-to-glass latency of roughly 22ms, which is significantly lower than most competitors, making it a favorite for competitive racing and tight proximity flying.

  • Nano-Sized 1080p Camera: The included camera is a true Nano (14x14mm), fitting into the tiny canopies of micro-whoops that were previously limited to analog. Despite its size, it features a 1/2.7" sensor with great low-light performance (0.001 Lux).

  • Onboard DVR & Storage: The VTX itself handles the recording duties. Depending on the version (V1/V2/V3), it comes with either 8GB or 32GB of internal memory, allowing you to capture 1080p flight footage without the weight of an SD card or external camera.

  • Canvas Mode OSD: One of the system's best features is its seamless integration with Betaflight, iNav, and Kiss. It supports "Canvas Mode," which renders your OSD exactly as you see it in Betaflight, including all custom fonts and symbols.

  • Dual Antenna & Range: While small, the VTX supports a dual-antenna configuration (on larger versions) or a high-efficiency single antenna (on the Nano/Mini) to provide a stable 4km+ range.

Technical Specifications (V3 Version):

  • Camera Size: 14 x 14 x 16.8mm

  • VTX Mounting: 25.5 x 25.5mm (M2) or 20 x 20mm (M3)

  • Resolution: 1080p/60fps, 720p/120fps, 720p/60fps

  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9 / 4:3 (Switchable)

  • Internal Storage: 32GB (V3) / 8GB (V1)

  • Input Voltage: 3.1V - 13V (Compatible with 1S-3S directly)

  • VTX Weight: 13.4g

  • Camera Weight: 3g

  • Latency: Average 22ms

The Pilot's Reality Check:

  • Whoop Power: The V3 is particularly impressive because it can be powered directly from a 1S LiPo, making it the "Gold Standard" for digital tiny whoops.

  • Compatibility: This kit is designed to work exclusively with the Walksnail Avatar HD Goggles or the Fat Shark Dominator HD digital goggles.

🤔 Frequently Asked Questions
  • What is the difference between V2 and V3?

The V3 is a significant upgrade in terms of versatility. It supports a wide input voltage of $3.1$V to $13$V, meaning it can be powered directly from a 1S LiPo battery (unlike the V2 which usually requires higher voltage). It also increased the onboard storage to 32GB and refined the camera sensor for better 4:3 native performance.

  • Can I use this with my Fat Shark goggles?

Yes, but only if they are the Fat Shark Dominator HD (digital) or if you have the Walksnail VRX module plugged into the HDMI-in port of older analog goggles. This system is part of the "Avatar" ecosystem and is not compatible with DJI goggles.

  • Does it support "Canvas Mode"?

Yes. This is one of Walksnail's best features. It allows for a full Betaflight OSD experience exactly like analog, but in high definition. You can move elements anywhere on the screen and see all your telemetry (voltage, link quality, GPS data) clearly.

  • How is the low-light performance?

The Nano V3 camera features a "Starlight" sensor with a minimum illumination of 6$0.001$ Lux.7 While it is not a dedicated night vision camera, it performs exceptionally well in twilight or poorly lit indoor environments where other digital systems might struggle with noise.

  • What is "Racing Mode"?

In recent firmware updates, Walksnail introduced a Racing Mode that prioritizes latency over resolution. It scales the video down to 540p to ensure a rock-solid 22ms latency, which is critical for competitive pilots who need the fastest possible feedback.
